but for journaling"

For kind, curious,
growth-minded humans.

✦ connection through reflection

What started as a desire for connection and community has turned into something epic. Every month, we gather in a beautiful St. Louis space — strangers, friends, and everyone in between — to slow down, reflect, and connect through the simple act of putting pen to paper.

No journaling experience needed. No pressure to share. Just showing up for ourselves and each other.

It started with a simple idea.

I'd been an avid journaler for years, but always alone. At a time in my life where I was looking for more community, I had a kernel of an idea to journal with others.

On a whim, I posted an open invite on TikTok and I never imagined what would come of it. On a Sunday in November, almost 100 people showed up in sub-25 degree, brutally windy weather. Everyone wrapped in blankets and gloves, huddled behind the walls near the art museum, journaling together. It was borderline dangerous — but it was also electric.

I'll never forget that first ever journal club. Since then, MADE Makerspace has opened their doors for us, and now the STL Journal Collective is 500+ strong — monthly journal clubs are recurring gatherings and a third space for all.

I'm moved by the power of community and so grateful that this one exists. Hope to journal with you soon. Feel free to reach out if I can be helpful in any way.

Warmly, Julie

What to Expect

Anyone can put pen to paper — we'll take care of the rest.

01
Show up

Grab a spot anywhere you feel comfortable. BYOB — bring your own blanket, journal, and something to write with.

02
One guiding question

Each month has a theme and a guiding question meant to spark inspiration and personal reflection. Thoughtful enough to go deep, open enough for anyone.

03
Pen to paper

There's no right way. Write a sentence, write pages. Doodle. Maybe shed a tear. No judgement.

04
Connect (optional)

There's always an opportunity for small group or pair sharing — if connection is part of your journey. Every kind of showing up is welcome and you always can opt to continue journaling.

A community built on
radical acceptance & curiosity.

✦ just show up and reflect

Seriously. Come as you are. We've had people show up after big life events, in the middle of transitions, just looking for connection, or just because they were curious. The only requirement is being kind — to yourself and others.

This is a judgment-free third space built on radical acceptance, vulnerability, and the belief that community changes people. Journaling is deeply personal — typically a solo, quiet act of vulnerability. But something magical happens when you do it among other people. A magical vulnerability dust settles over the room, and suddenly there's space for real, genuine human connection. That's the power of pen to paper.
